Cornell University’s Agriculture Education and Outreach program is excited to announce the 2023-24 Agricultural Education Incentive Grant for New and Growing Programs.  This program will provide local school-based agricultural education programs with grant awards to secure necessary resources for a high quality, three-component agricultural education program.  These resources may include, but are not limited to curriculum development, professional development, program development, resource acquisitions, and program coordination.

Juleah Tolosky, the New York FFA Director stated, “New York continues to experience growth within its existing and emerging school based agricultural education programs. These programs are a starting block for individual success, agricultural growth and community strength.  Our Agricultural Education Incentive Grant provides funds to support new programs as they introduce FFA into their communities and to continue support of growing FFA chapters to support strong, local opportunities for all New York students. It is exciting to offer a grant that allows our FFA chapters to make investments that achieve our State’s goal of growing in size and quality in ways that are the most relevant to their communities.”

Applications for New and Growing programs will be accepted through October 1, 2023. Awards will be announced by the end of October with funding to follow. For inquires and questions, interested schools should contact Juleah Tolosky, at juleah@cornell.edu. The Agriculture Education Incentive Grant would not be possible without program supporters such as Cornell University, New York Farm Bureau, NYS Department of Agriculture and Markets, and New York State Education Department.

Agricultural Education is a unique part of career and technical education that strives to enhance student education through school-based instruction about Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources.  These classes use a powerful, three-component delivery model that includes Classroom Instruction, FFA, and Supervised Agricultural Experiences (work-based learning) to engage students and prepare them for career and academic success. Currently, there are nearly 388 teachers in 260 schools offering agricultural education to students across New York State with 92 programs interested in beginning new programs.  In addition to schools that are already offering agriculture education programs, FFA works as part of a team to support the establishment of new programs every year.  For more information regarding New York Agriculture Education, please visit our website at www.nysffa.org.
